Catch Up Isn't Just for Burgers

Pun?? Play on Words??  I have some definite issues with literary devices.  I mean I can certainly regurgitate definitions but application of said devices are an issue for me.  The two I have most trouble with, and get teased the most by my students for, are knowing the difference between puns and play on words and the difference between irony and coincidence.

As my student David always points out irony is having your dog named Lucky get hit by a car.

Yeah I don't get it.

I will embrace my deficiencies and not let them hold me down.

So I just now today took my January pictures off of my camera and was shocked to find out that I only had a few of our Pentatonix concert and some pictures of a fire pit we had.

I know that I am no Ansel Adams, but I really must do better.  I mean c'mon, there are people who took more pictures when they had to cause an explosion to get a flash and had to keep their camera in a trunk.  I have a point and click with auto focus in my purse.

I have no excuses.

OK so lets see what is on my camera this month so far.

Our school hosted a chorus, band, and orchestra festival.  This is the chorus.  I loved the conductor and enjoyed talking with him and sharing ideas.

We also had our annual coffee house.  Andrew performed in three different groups.
A trio from chorus sang the song from the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou" his best friend Jamo played guitar.  Andrew sings the first and the last solo.  I love these guys!!

He also played bass in the house band.

His band also did an original song.  He is just so talented.

Have I told you lately that I want to start a cookie making business.  Yeah I know, just what I need something else to do, but I really love making cookies and baking in general.  I'll let you all know when I win the lottery and open up my business.

Here are some cookies I made for Valentine's Day.

Needless to say my Valentine's Day was very sweet...get it sweet?!?!

HELP!!!

  1. You have been busy. The cookies are really cute. I went through a phase of decorating cookies. It's so much fun but I haven't done it in years! Good luck with a cookie business.

  2. You're so good at the cookie thing - you should DEFINITELY go into business. You can test out your shipping skillz by sending a batch of cookies to me. Heh.

I'm going to watch the video at home (can't at work). I love Oh Brother Where Art Thou - one of my favorite movies. My husband & I will just randomly say, "We thought you was a toad!" and "Do. Not. Seek. the. Treasure!" :)
