Inner Struggle

The me-wanting-to-be-thinner side ate Greek yogurt and blueberries this morning for breakfast. However, the I-should-be-happy-with-my-weight-because-I-am-beautiful-just-the-way-I-am side ate a maple scone from Starbucks this afternoon.

The I-am-strong-and-invincible side thought she might just extend her run to 4.5 miles this morning. However, the I-am-old-and-my-hips-ache side stopped at 4 miles.

The I-am-self-confident-and-don't-mess-with-me side responded to a complaint e-mail from a parent with all the I am right fire it deserved. However, the maybe-I-should-let-it-go side didn't send it...yet.

The I-haven't-met-a-child-who-doesn't-adore-me side is trying to ignore hurtful e-mails from Rich's ex. However, the maybe-I-am-not-as-great-as-I-think-I-am side is taking over.

The I-can-handle-my-rehearsal-without-an-accompanist side sat down at the piano with my Sixth Graders to play for them. However, my-I-can't-really-play-the-piano-very-well side was happy when my accompanist got done with her other gig early and showed up.

The I-am-happy-living-in-California side enjoyed the warm sunny weather today. The I-want-to-move-back-to-Iowa side got pictures of my niece today. The I-feel-guilty-when-I-don't-cook-for-my-family side was very upset that I was getting home so late. However, the I-am-hungry side was glad that Rich had dinner prepared when I got home.

The I-am-self-reliant-don't-need-help side is starting to lean towards the I-need-to-call-my-therapist side.

What do you think??

  1. Well the niece is adorable for one thing.

    I think you're very clever : )

Not what you were looking for? Hmm...probably best to sit on the email for a day (things tend to look different later), try to ignore the hurtful emails, kiss your soon to be husband, and maybe forget the therapist-you have a blog which is practically the same thing : )

  2. Oh, and I can relate - especially to the yogurt for breakfast and scone and venti latte in the afternoon.

  5. Loved this post!
    We can all relate.
Let the dialogue go on, that's life.
But, maybe address our musings to God, who knows our thoughts before we think them anyway, and has answers, and personally/gently leads us through the maze.
